I thought it was important to take this opportunity to declare the victory.  It is probably not the victory that first came to your mind.  However, it is the only victory that any of us should be declaring.  It is the victory Christ secured over two thousand years ago and is the only victory that matters.

Regardless of where you are or what is happening in your life right now, Christ guaranteed and secured the victory over sin and death.  Everything else that we struggle with is a distraction from what really matters.

In arguments and disputes, we lose sight of how God sees the other person and the love He poured out on each of us.  In order to carry an argument, our focus leaves Christ and shifts to our own wants, needs, desires, ideas, and ego.  In a similar way, when we allow circumstances to weigh upon us, we take up a burden that God is patiently waiting to carry for us.

Jesus laid down His life, and gained the victory, so that none of us should ever have to struggle with the worries of this world.  He told us that we would face trials and that tribulations would come.  But he also told us not to worry because He has already overcome the world.

If you are struggling or have gotten down, take a moment to remember that God loved you so much that He sent His only begotten Son to pay the price for everything you have ever done wrong in order to have a loving relationship with you.  That same God also loves whoever may be the focus of your current issues in the same way and as much as He loves you.  Then act to show them the love, value, and forgiveness that God has for us and for them.

We also need to learn to trust God in our circumstances.  I told our FAITH teams last night that because they were there to serve, I knew that they, like Joshua, had declared “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!”  That meant that they were following and empowered by the same God who led and empowered the nation of Israel to defeat giants.  In every circumstance, we should rely upon that power to overcome whatever giant we are facing because the victory is already His.

In case you were wondering, yes, the teams did go out declaring that power and love.  I am happy to say that they reported back with three people having been led to Christ!

  1. Awesome message Penny! I am actually excited to see the growth and strength that is to emerge from Forestville in the near future. God breaks us to make something better. I believe that every member, every family, and every part of our Church was and is going to be amazing. My feelings are that we have so many strong Christian disciples within this one building (Our Church) that God needs to send some out to share his love. God’s direction is not to harm us but to grow us more like him. Everyone going through this separation of our Church Family, please know that you are all my Brothers and Sisters in Christ. I love you all! P.S. I am not an English Teacher, so please ignore the grammar. Love Ya’ll!
